At least 22
Hindu villagers were killed and eight others critically
wounded in a militant massacre in village Kalhan in Doda district
of Jammu region.
A senior
police officer told rediff.com that a group of heavily armed
militants swooped in on Kalhan late Sunday night and gathered
the Hindu villagers in the house of the village headman.
"The militants opened indiscriminate fire at the unarmed
villagers huddled inside the house. 22 villagers died on the spot
while eight others were critically wounded. The injured have been
airlifted to Jammu for specialised treatment," Jammu range
police chief inspector general of police Dr S P Vaid said.
He said troops
of 8 Rashtriya Rifles and police have reached the spot and a
massive hunt has been launched to hunt down the killers.
High tension gripped Doda and adjoining areas as the news about
the killings spread on Monday morning. No group has yet
claimed responsibility for the massacre.
The
killings came hours after police found the bodies of four abducted
villagers at Basantgrah in neighbouring Udhampur district Sunday
afternoon.
Unfortunately,
neither the highly
vocal English Media nor any Human Rights jholawalas, including the
National
Human Rights Commission, have shown
any concern for Hindu victims of repetitive carnages.
Surprisingly, in the midst of cold blooded killings of Hindus of
Doda and Udhampur, most TV channels, even print media, remained
casual, even dismissive. They stayed fatally
attracted to Vadodara riots and persistently glossed
over the collapse of governance in Jammu & Kashmir due to
sheer pusillanimity of the Central government. For
all intent and purposes, the mainstream media's single-point
agenda was to pour vitriolic ridicule on the Narendra Modi
Government.

stern warning (or even a mild warning!) was issued to Gulam Nabi
Azad, the chosen favourite of Sonia Gandhi and the Islam-loving
and Hindu-hating UPA Government
in New Delhi. According to UPA Government, Narendra Modi of
Gujarat is saffronized, non-secular and communal. Gulam Nabi Azad
is compassionate, secular, non-communal and above all a non-kafir.
In this context, Hugh
Fitzgerald, Jihad Watch Board Vice President, in a very
perceptive article written two weeks ago has discussed the current
Jihad in Jammu and Kashmir and in the Indian subcontinent in
general. He asks the pertinent question: 'Why
do Muslim terrorists attack in Jammu-Kashmir? Because they can.
The
Muslim claim to Kashmir differs from their claim to all of India
(or for that matter to Spain (Al-Andalus), to Israel, to Sicily,
to the Balkans, to Bulgaria, to Rumania, to Hungary, and to all
the areas once dominated by Muslims) only in the ability to push
that claim. Of course, in the jihadist view the entire world in
the end must submit to Islam and be dominated by Islam ? though
non-Muslims may, should they accept what many Muslims continue to
believe is perfectly just, live under those unambiguous conditions
of humiliation, degradation, and physical insecurity whose sum is
the status we now describe as 'dhimmitude'.
At least the

Above all, no thoroughly modern Indian will
dare suggest that Islam has done great damage to Jammu and Kasmir,
as well as to India as a whole, and to Indian civilization. No,
there are exceptions -- such as that cosmopolitan of Indian
descent, V. S. Naipaul, who is
not afraid of anyone. There are Indian-Americans (Hindu, Sikh, and
even disaffected ex-Muslims) and their counterparts in Great
Britain, who also know how silly it is not to make the case, to
ignore history, or to shy away from the slightest hint of Hindutva,
which is often mocked. Why, exactly? Is K.
S. Lal to be mocked for "The
Legacy of Muslim Rule in India"? Is Sir
Jahundath Sarkar?
Are all the
other Hindu historians of India who have been unafraid to discuss
what Muslim rule did to India?
Those
of us who are not Indian should find out a good deal more about
what happened on the subcontinent, and cease to so readily accept
the "advanced" view which holds that anything smacking
of "communalism" (a word used to indicate, of course,
those who wish to show their sympathetic interest in, and
identification with, Hindu India, and who refuse to play the game
of sanitizing the history of Muslim rule) is ipso facto evil.
One
hopes that those in the Western world who are articulate and
aware, and of Indian (Hindu or Sikh descent, primarily) will
help to educate others -- but that can only be done once one has
educated oneself. Lal and Sarkar should be household words. The
two volumes in which Sita Ram Goel
simply lists tens of thousands of Hindu sites destroyed should
be better known. Those Indians who
become internationally famous, and always -- as a matter of
course -- are quick to demonstrate that they have absolutely
nothing to do with "communalism" (i.e., Hindu
causes, Hindu history, Hindu interests)
-- one thinks here of Amartya Sen -- would do better to study
their own history, and not to assume that intelligent Hindus and
Sikhs who show a bit of that supposedly terrible
"communalism" must be wrong. They aren't.

Deafening silence in Secular Press?
There
is one thing that nobody, not even the wisest among us can do: and
that is to re-live history. Like it or not, we have to live with
it. We have to accept the fact that a predominantly Hindu country
was ruled for some eight centuries by Islamic
invaders and some of their tyrannical successors and
for another one hundred years by the British.
That
was to give many Hindu intellectuals some of them described as Macaulay’s
children a tremendous sense of
inferiority. They were often willing to think the worst
of Hindu royalty while unwilling or hesitant to look at anything
but the more benevolent side of Islamic rule whether under an
Aurangzeb or even a Tipu Sultan.
If
there is a communal riot in Gujarat it is condemned as a `pogrom’
to eliminate Muslims or, worse still, as genocide on a scale
practised by Hitler.

in Kashmir are routinely terrorised and killed but that is
seldom noticed. There were six killings in 2000,
another six killings in 2001, some seven killings in 2002 and
just this May terrorists massacred 32 Hindus and our secular
media took everything in its stride.
The wailing of women
whose husbands, sons and fathers were murdered in cold blood
went unheard.

in Outlook (20 February) K. P.S. Gill
raised an important point. He said: “Why does the Muslim world
not rise up in rage against these fanatics and political
opportunists who are bringing disgrace to their faith? Why are
the voices of criticism against extremist Islam and Islamist
terrorism so muted?
Our
secularists pretended not to have read Gill. When dams are
raised and huge lakes are formed, ancient temples get submerged
but Hindus don’t raise a hue and cry.
At no time has India practised
genocide as its two Muslim neighbouring countries have done. It
has suffered from terrorists and it continues to do even today and
there has not been a voice of protest from Muslim organisations,
which should also know that many are the Muslims in India who have
been giving shelter to Muslim terrorists and their ISI patrons.
They could organise a protest
against President Bush: why can’t they organise a similar
protest against General Musharraf and his paid thugs? Is that too
much to ask? Or are the wails of Hindu widows the price we have to
pay for our vaunted secularism?

Angry
reaction to Hindu plight
They
go hysteric on dargah,
their silence deafening on Hindu carnage.
The
latest carnage of 35 innocent Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir is part of
the scene that's all so deja vu since the last 20 years or so.
First
came the TV news, the tragic images and the screaming newspaper
headlines thereafter. Then
came the immediate flying visits of VIPs to the massacre sites,
their public appeal for communal harmony, their announcement of
financial relief to the families of the victims, their condemnation
of the incident and their proclaimed resolve that New Delhi will not
be bend by the perpetrators. Quickly followed the hand-wringing,
rationalising editorials interspersed with human interest stories,
hospital pictures, and police/army reactions-cum-speculations.
Within
a week, the whole episode went-off the national radar,
and it's back to square one: the terrorists ready with plans for
more terror attacks of one kind or another, in Doda or Udhampur or
elsewhere, smug and secure that this Indian nation of ours is just
too soft, impotent in giving "an eye for an eye" and,
instead, remains naively susceptible to yet another carnage with its
attendant replay.
The
only difference this time around is that no outfit was boastful
about committing what it did, though the finger yet again points to
one of those evil jihadi outfits nurtured by Pakistan. Then there is
the other conspicuous element this time of our National
Security Adviser's cryptic reaction that "We will
send an appropriate message" even while avowing that "The
peace process will continue."
What,
pray, is an appropriate message, Mr. NSA? And to whom would it be
given? Chewing on a betel-nut
or something like that in his car while answering the media's
questions, all that Mr. NSA disclosed was that the PM would not be
going to Pakistan in June as was earlier believed. Was that the
"appropriate" message? We don't know.

 In
4102 from the beginning of Kali Yuga
the barbarians invaded Punjab. At the lead of their hordes was Mahmud
Gaznavi - a Turk from Middle Asia, who moved the capital
of his state in Ghazna. In the course of the next years his armies
undertook a series of ravaging military campaigns against India,
turning her northwest provinces into piles of burning ashes and
killing more than one hundred thousand people. However, more fearful
is the fact that the invaders forcefully imposed in the sacred land
of the Vedas a doubtful religion standing in most cases far lower
than the Hinduism - Islam. In the next ten centuries the latter
spread all over the country like an epidemic to such a degree that
today it encompasses almost one third from the population of the
subcontinent and turn into the greatest ever threat for the
existence of the Indian civilization.
I have often asked myself what was
so specific about the Muslim self-conscience that prevents it from
getting integrated with any other? Why the
Christians, Buddhists, Judeans, Sikhs or Jains can live in harmony
with India and enrich her culture, but the followers of Mohamed can
not? The Islam is not just a total religion, it is a nationality.
Its followers all over the world felt like part of God-chosen
nation, which stands over the rest. The people who profess other
religions are considered to be “impious” and in the case of the
Hindus, worse - for “pagan”. The Muslims would rather transform
India into an Arab country, but they would never become real
Indians.
This is the uniqueness of the
Muslim invasions in India from the period of 8-15 century. While
the previous invaders - the Persians, Greeks, Hunas and Juechas
have only ravaged the country without trying to interfere in the
secular and religious life (for that reason these numerous
invaders disappeared like grain of sand in the vast Indian sea),
the Arabs, the Pushtuns and the Turks have tried to impose a new
view of life and conception of the world, exemplified by the
Islam, which would have over-live their physical existence. This
turns into a real threat for the traditional culture of the
country because the Islam creates a totalitarian culture that
does not tolerate any other traditions and customs.
Where
Islam settled, the traditional culture before long disappeared..
Those regions in which it outweighed, were brutally
cut from the bosom of the Indian civilization and annexed to the
Semitic. The bloody violence over the local population from the
invaders, and also the treason of millions of Hindus, who
betrayed the bequest of their own religions helped for the
spreading of the new religion. Century by century the Arab
doctrine spread around the country of the Vedas like a cancer in
an diseased person in order to encompass in our days almost 30%
of its population. If this expansion does not stop and 380
belief apostates of the subcontinent do not understand the
character of the sin committed by their ancestors, India is
threatened in the next 1-2 centuries to follow the destiny of
the Zoroastrian Iran which 1300 years ago disgracefully
surrendered to the warriors of the crescent moon.

US commission which said the Indian government should hold to
account the perpetrators of the 2002 Gujarat
riots to display the country's return to its tradition
of religious tolerance.
Although positive developments
affecting freedom of religion and belief have been witnessed in
the country since the United Progressive Alliance government came
to power, the US Congress-mandated commission said, "Concerns
about religious freedom in India remain" despite the
"improved situation".
In
its annual report, the US Commission on International Religious
Freedom said violence against minorities continues to occur in
the states where BJP heads the government and names these as
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.

Stephen Kinzer tells the story in Overthrow, America's
century of regime changing began not in Iraq but Hawaii.
Hawaii ? Indeed. Kinzer
explains that Hawaii's white haole minority -- in cahoots with the
U.S. Navy, the White House and Washington's local representative
-- conspired to remove Queen Liliuokalani
from her throne in 1893 as a step toward annexing the islands. The
haole plantation owners believed that by removing the queen (who
planned to expand the rights of Hawaii's native majority) and
making Hawaii part of the United States, they could get in on a
lucrative but protected mainland sugar market. Ever wonder why
free trade has such a bad name? Over the decades, a version of
this story repeats, and repeats. Kinzer, a New York Times
reporter, writes that the United States
has thwarted independence movements in Cuba, Puerto Rico, the
Philippines and Nicaragua; staged covert actions and coups d'etat
in Iran, Guatemala, South Vietnam and Chile; and invaded Grenada,
Panama and obviously Afghanistan and Iraq. Over 110
years, Kinzer argues, the United States has deployed its power to
gain access to natural resources, stifle dissent and control the
nationalism of newly independent states or political movements.

There
is increasing evidence that Christian evangelical groups are
aggressively targeting Hindu students
in American college campuses for
conversion. In fact, a sampling of Asian
American-identified evangelical fellowship websites reveals
mission statements targeting Asian and Asian American students for
outreach and membership, while simultaneously affirming a
non-race-specific evangelical identity.
One
reason for the present renewed aggressive effort is that, unlike
other Asian Americans, Hindu-Americans have staunchly resisted
efforts at conversion. Also, unlike other Asian
Americans who are becoming increasingly associated with
evangelical Christianity on college campuses, Hindu-Americans have
their own campus groups such as Hindu Students Federation.
Nevertheless,
evangelical "parachurch" organizations like Campus
Crusade for Christ (CCC), The Navigators, and IVCF
are soliciting large numbers of students to their weekly bible
studies, prayer meetings, and social events. There is no doubt
that Asian Americans – especially Korean and Chinese - are
becoming increasingly associated with evangelical Christianity on
the college campus. The hope is that Indian-Americans will follow
suit.
The
main concern of the recently established Fellowship
of South Asian Christians (organised at the Overseas Indians
Congress on Evangelism) is the evangelization of South
Asians living abroad. The organization acknowledges that it is
gearing to become a dynamic force for evangelism among Hindus,
scattered in countries other than their homeland.
The
Institute of Hindu Studies, based in the Midwest,
says its mission is to be “a resource base, strategy center and
a facilitator of knowledge” by providing “reliable information
on India, Hinduism and the Indian Diaspora.” The IHS says its
vision is “To stimulate and encourage the growth of a culturally
relevant movement for frontier missions among the 2,700 unreached,
predominantly caste Hindu people groups existing mostly in India,
but found throughout the world.”

Christudas, a student at William
Carey International University on the campus of the U.S.
Center for World Mission, writes:
“I
believe it is high time for us to concentrate our efforts on
reaching the dear Hindu men and women around the world before this
form of Satan's deception begins to devour millions more into its
philosophy.” He asks fellow Christians: What is your part in
reaching the Hindus for Christ?

Spurning
world opinion, and disregarding the United Nations and its
collective wisdom, the Anglo-American
Coalition is in invasion mode. 49 countries are with
this union. No, not great democracies, but nations, which are
the size of the stamps they mint by the zillion. Some are mere
dots on the Atlas, or doesn’t even have the population of a
big Indian city, yet it is an equal partner to the 48 others
like it who have collectively decided to play policeman. Just
study the make-up of this motley group that is trying to usher
in ‘democracy’: from Down Under come the Aussies, and Kiwis,
they who snatched innocent aborigine babies from their mother’s
breasts and crowded them into isolated 'halfway homes', yes sir,
the very Kiwi New Zealanders who usurped Moari land and
tradition and consigned them to footnotes in their
glorious Anglicised history books that stars the likes of
Captain Cook.
No
more covert CIA or MI covert operations now sir, not with Bushes
and Blairs around, it is overt designs, to assassinate. They
dropped bombs on Tripoli till Gaddafi’s daughter died of
wounds, and now try the same on Baghdad. They
divided Germany, and India, and Korea too. They
broke up Laos, and Vietnam too. They have a finger in every pie,
and another on every nuclear button. Indeed the Americans are
funny people. They sermonize from pulpits on why India
should sign the Non Proliferation Treaty, and yet
their senate in its infinite wisdom refuses to let their own
President endorse it. They scream from rooftops about Geneva
Convention (when al Jazeera showed a few captive yanks, more a
convincing proof of their capture by Iraqis: a fact that the
coalition lied to the world about ‘none of our forces is
missing’ they chimed till the network called their bluff)-
Suddenly, now, it is Geneva.
John
F Kennedy and the Peace Corps of America became a symbol of a
benevolent and caring Super power.

All
I know, is way back the Americans were nice people, bringing
their volunteer Peace
Corps workers to alleviate
the suffering here. That the funds under PL 480 were graciously
waived off from return. That ship loads of wheat and maize
steamed in during the sixties to feed us…and that one John
F Kennedy did
mobilize a fleet into the Indian Ocean when Chinese army
threatened to overrun India. Where is that American now?
